Moving home can be stressful at any time. But when it includes downsizing from your family home into an apartment or retirement village, the space constraints can feel more challenging. But there are some upsides to downsizing and when it comes to your windows, there’s lots of things you can do.
This is what our clients tell us:
- With fewer windows, our clients often find they can afford to splurge and buy the sort of window furnishings they have always wanted but couldn’t justify in a large home. Think timber shutters, Luxaflex® Duettes® or the use of luxurious fabrics.
- In neutral rooms, many clients choose bold colours or patterns for their window treatments to personalise their space and create a focal point. These colours or patterns are then repeated sparingly in cushions, throws and accessories to add pops of interest throughout their new home.
- If privacy is an issue, we suggest including sheer curtains or translucent blinds to let the light in while keeping prying eyes out. Sheer and translucent window finishes also help cut the glare if that’s a problem in your new home. Whatever your concern, we have lots of options for you to explore.
- If space is an issue, some clients opt for bonded or roman blinds so they can choose a patterned or boldly coloured fabric while taking advantage of the compact nature of blinds.
